The Welsh Socialist manifesto for the climate

Most parties are offering platitudes to oppose climate change, but only TUSC is proposing a socialist green new deal that can prevent carbon emissions and ensure a just transition to a green economy that protects jobs.

We oppose the idea that workers’ jobs and working-class living standards should be made to pay for the climate emergency created by big business.

And while energy prices go through the roof for working class families the privately-owned energy companies make hundreds of billions of pounds profit.

We stand for a socialist Green New Deal:

• Invest in tidal lagoons at Swansea Bay, Cardiff and North Wales.
• Take the steel industry into public ownership and invest in green steel at Port Talbot to protect jobs.
• Electrify Welsh railways.
• Massively expand access to free, publicly-owned public transport.
• Nationalise the energy companies in order to lower prices and carry out a major switch to clean, green energy, without any loss of jobs, pay or conditions.
